Case#(S) Parent email to Mieko: Jan. 2011 - We met Case#(S) when
she was almost 2. The home she was in was her 2nd foster home. Case#(S)
had a G-tube and was oxygen dependant. Sarah was born with fetal alcohol
syndrome, was code blue and suffered an anoxic brain ingury, she was a 27 week
premi. We adopted her at age 2, Even then her tantrums were severe but
managable (she would pull her own hair out) as time has gone by her tantrums
are much worse and she is now 72 pounds. Her current diagnosis is:ADD, ADHD,
Autism ,FAS, intermittent explosive disorder and mild MR.
She has been on just about every medication you can imagine. So far we have
tried...Abilify, Zoloft, Lithium Carbonate, Risperdal, Seroquel, lorazepam,
Risperdol M tab, Lithium, Zyprexa Zidis, Benadryl, Methylphenidate,
Carbamazepine, Clonazepam, Concerta, Guanfacine, Hydroxyzine, Phenobarbital,
Daytrana Patch..but none of these help. She is now on ...Clonidine, Zoloft,
Thorazine and Depakote. She has moments where she is stable then , UGH, she can
be so violent!! We had her placed in residential treatment, but, she got worse
and we brought her home. This time with lots of support TBS, Intensive behavior
therapy and Behaviorial respite. Yesterday she had a HUGE violent melt down and
bit out therapist kicked hit and bit me this tantrum lasted and hour and 10
min.
I would love to talk to you. I need help.
Case#(S) is now under Dr. H care.
Feb.11.11 - Perfect day ! ok, maybe a few flair-ups but easily re-directed.
Feb.12.11 - pretty good morning once again some agitation, but re-direction
worked...We went to the park this morning. On the way home I told her if she
continues to have such good days she can easily earn yard sales next Saturday (this
is something she loves to do but must be earned) She said "It's my new
medicine, it's helping me be calm" WOW!!!!
2 days NO tantrums !!!!!!!!!!! WOW
!! wish us luck for Sunday !! :)
She had some explosive moments but they were very short and easily
redirected...NO RESTRAINING NECESSARY WOOO HOOO !!!!
2-28 good day a bit silly and unfocused but no tantrums. YAY
Nov.11.11 - "WOW!!! things are going great! As Thanksgiving draws
near I reflect back to last year....Sarah was 2 months into her residental
treatment. Things were not going well there at all. Her tantrums had become
worse and they had her heavely medicated. On weekend visits she was completely
out of control. Her violent tantrums were averaging 3-10 tiimes a day. Fast
forward to now ....WOW! she averages 3 tantrums a month!!! She has come so far.
This year at Thanksgiving I am thankful for my health, my family and, for you
.....being there, listening, and your wisdom.
Thank you"
